Lake Geneva

Last weekend we drove to another state! It is the first state we have been in besides Illinois. We went north to Wisconsin, to a little town called Lake Geneva. Fortunately, the trip only took just over an hour. Unfortunately, the weather was very cold and windy, and both the girls had been sick for the whole week before. So we took it pretty easy. Also, a lot of the touristy things weren't open till next weekend. But it was wonderful to go someplace else for the weekend, and have some adventures together. One of these was going on a horse and carriage ride. We went around the town and saw some houses that had been built in the 1800's. Kate took some time off by herself and went to discover the shops. They were so interesting she only managed four in her 90 min break. Oh well, we will have to go again.

The highlight for the kids was a restaurant called "Popeyes". Scott enjoyed the all-you-can eat cod. The kids loved Big Ben, who came to the table to do some magic tricks which fascinated them, and make a balloon animal. Granny will be very pleased to hear that Dante asked for a balloon ferret!

The weekend finished with a flat battery when we went to leave the hotel. Oh. Again, the Midwest friendliness proved itself true, and the man getting into the car next to us gave us a jump start. He also pointed out that two of our tyres are about to burst (girl term) because of going over potholes. Another job to add to the list. Overall, another adventurous time for the Harrowers!

P.S. When we got home Scott received his Masters certificate in the mail, and the graduation order of service. Well done Scottles! We are so proud of you!

Deligted to read of your holiday, too. So pleased that Dante asked for a ferret balloon. He is a man of real class and discernment! Well done, Dante! Special hugs from Granny! Love to you all! Granny and Pa.
